As Engineering Business Group Manager, Tom Tye focuses on the integration of technical operations and business development. He serves owners and agencies who require niche geotechnical, civil engineering, and surveying services for their projects throughout the Southeastern U.S.
Mr. Tye has provided consulting on a wide variety of projects including transportation projects, commercial buildings, dams and embankments, excavations, and seawalls. He has specialized expertise in performance monitoring, design of deep and shallow foundations, soil stabilization, ground improvement, slope stability and underpinning, excavation bracing for large earthwork facilities, ground improvement, and construction management. Mr. Tye has performed other specialty work throughout his career including construction material testing and construction management. He has provided geotechnical services on the design and/or construction of earthwork projects throughout the southeastern United States.
Mr. Tye holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and an MBA from Georgia State University. Prior to CERM, Mr. Tye was Branch Manager at Universal Engineering and Geocomp, Engineering Manager at Piedmont Geotechnical Consultants, Technical/Business Director of ATC Associates southeast regional office, and Department Manager with Law Engineering (now WSP USA).
Mr. Tye is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He resides in metro Atlanta.
